I was brought up around centers of higher education because my father is in HR, and I've seen many, many instances of multi-culturalism. It can be both a good thing and sometimes quite segragational simply because, as you say, it's basic human nature to be around like-minded individuals. I would say, though, that for persons who enjoy experiencing other cultures and can embrace them for what they are, multi-culturalism would likely not promote racism, in my opinion (though for that sort of people, racism probably is not an issue to begin with). :P Hmmm, I think you may have an excellent point here.
